Outstanding results at North Island Secondary Schools Equestrian Championships

Equestrians Hayley Newington and Kate McKeen (both Hillary House) recently represented Macleans College at the North Island Secondary Schools Equestrian Championships which were held in Taupo.

This event was held over a chilly but sunny four days at the National Equestrian Centre.

Kate and her mount Shadow competed in multiple events throughout the competition including dressage, arena eventing and jumping/show hunter events with some outstanding results in all disciplines. Kate completed three 90cm - 1m jumping classes finishing in the top ten in two of those with a fifth and seventh placing. In the 90cm - 1m arena eventing she finished a creditable 14th in a large class. Kate also achieved top ten finishes in each of her three preliminary level dressage classes including a third, fifth and seventh placing.

Hayley competed in dressage on her horse Mendoza ST, completing three novice level dressage tests. She also achieved top ten placings across all of her tests with two eighth placings and a tenth.

With both riders producing strong dressage results they finished 21st out of 58 teams in the School Teams Dressage Competition.
