Outstanding KBB Festival Success

Posted on August 24, 2016

The KBB Music Festival was held last week at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell with over 4,000 students taking part - the largest field of competitors in the events history.

Macleans College entered six instrumental groups in four competitive categories: Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Band and Chamber Orchestra.

Over 200 Macleans students represented the school and gained critical acclaim with the competitions adjudicators.

A total of two Gold Awards, three Silver Awards and one Bronze Award were achieved with the three Silver awards only 1 point away from gaining Gold.

Outstanding performances were given by the Macleans Symphony Orchestra who tackled an incredibly difficult programme of original orchestral repertoire and the Macleans Senior Concert Band who were awarded an incredible 99 marks out of 100.

Closing comments from one adjudicator paid tribute to the extraordinary hard work and commitment of our students “your performance standard surpasses that of a professional ensemble. Outstanding, superb - words cannot describe your perfection.”
