Obituary: Michael Carey Green

Michael Carey Green was born 29 October 1947 in Denver, Colorado and spent his adolescence and early adulthood in Omaha, Nebraska.
While in Omaha, his career included journalism, advertising, hospitality, and healthcare.
After concluding two years of work in Antarctica, Michael visited New Zealand in 1980 and had been a resident ever since. He worked a variety of jobs at Kaiaua Beach near Tolaga Bay before finishing his BA and Teacher’s Certificate and embarking on his teaching career.
Michael spent 27 years in secondary teaching, serving as Head of English at Macleans College and Media Studies at Saint Kentigern College.
Throughout his life, Michael’s interests included music, art and design, wood-paste model-making, trekking and camping, dogs, gardening, photography, sport as a viewer, life and learning.
Son of Robert E. Green (deceased) and Emily Sue Green (deceased). Brother of Susan Knauss (deceased). Survived by brother Robert B. Green, stepmother Phyllis King, cousins Charles Green, Nancy Ricketts and Carol Bosworth, several nieces and nephews and countless friends, colleagues and pupils.
