North Island Secondary Schools Orienteering Championship 2024

A group of Macleans College students recently participated in the North Island Secondary Schools Orienteering Championship.
The competition consisted of an individual sprint, a long competition and a team relay.
In the individual sprint, held at the AUT Akoranga Campus, the students achieved some great results. Top ten placings included Fleur Findlay (Mansfield House) in the junior girls, Jeremy Ying (Hillary) and Wesley Lau (Kupe) in the intermediate boys and Lily West (Upham) in the senior girls.
The long competition was held in Mairetahi, which consisted of some tough route choices and hilly terrain. Top ten placings included Lily West in the senior girls’ championship and Constanze Mauser (Mansfield) in the senior girls’ standard.
The team relay was held at Riverhead Forest. Two teams represented Macleans College in this event; junior boys and intermediate boys.
The Macleans College orienteering students performed exceptionally well in these championships, placing seventh overall in the boys’ school division and tenth in the girls’ school division.
