North Island Schools Mountain Biking Championships

Twelve Macleans College students competed at the North Island Mountain Biking Championships across three events at Hunua Forest and FourForty Mountain Bike Park.
Blake Larcombe (Te Kanawa House), Finn Wilson (Hillary), Hunter McCabe (Snell), Alexander Fahey (Mansfield), Nicholas Holmes (Upham), Carter Penney (Snell), Davin Burn (Upham) and Parker Ensor (Batten) tackled the long and gruelling Cross Country (XCO) race at Hunua Ranges Regional Park. Top results from Carter Penney coming 12th in U15 and Finn Wilson 3rd place in U17. Matthew Moore (Te Kanawa) joined Finn and Blake in the senior relay team and Hunter, Carter and Davin in the U16 relay team.
Hunter McCabe, Mac Smith (Kupe), Jaxon Lewis (Te Kanawa) and Blayde Atkins (Batten) competed in the Enduro event at FourForty, with Blayde taking 9th place U14. Hunter and Mac also competed in the demanding Downhill event.
All riders pushed themselves over some challenging courses and terrain against the top riders in the North Island.
