Nineteen medals achieved at Secondary School Swimming Championships

The Secondary School Swimming Championships was held last week at Waterworld in Hamilton from 15 – 18 October.

Macleans College had a small team of eight competitive swimmers who won seventeen individual and two relay medals, finishing in seventh place overall out of 123 participating schools.

The individual winners were:

  • Danielle Asiata (Batten House) who won eight gold and one bronze medals.
  • Mulan Chan See (Snell) won three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
  • Charlotte Steele (Rutherford) won one bronze medal.

The relay winners were:

  • Bronze medal for mixed 200 metre free relay - Daniel Cieplinski (Kupe), Raymond Wang (Rutherford), Charlotte Steele, Danielle Asiata
  • Silver medal for mixed 200 metre medley relay - Danielle Asiata, Kyle Chen (Te Kanawa), Mulan Chan See, Daniel Cieplinski

Macleans College swimmers also placed 6th in the 4x50 metre medley men and 6th in 4x50 metre freestyle men.

The swimmers showed their determination and strength to reach their personal best.  It was a strong overall performance by Macleans College swimmers.
