Night of Memories – Cultural Clubs Prizegiving
Posted on October 05, 2022
The Intercultural Committee (ICC) recently hosted the inaugural Night of Memories in Hillary House commons.
This was a formal prizegiving ceremony to recognise and reward members of different cultural clubs at Macleans College, as well as the teachers in charge, and celebrate all that they have created this year: friendships, impact, and memories. At the conclusion of the event, students and teachers were welcomed to a shared afternoon tea.
The event also offered a chance to reflect on the success of traditional and new ICC projects this year, from Food Festival, Flag Pageant, and Night of Intercultural, to external events such as Polyfest, which featured incredible opportunity for Bollywood Dance and Chinese Lion Dance.
On the fundraising front, a total of $4,000 from Food Festival and its constituent cultural mufti day, was donated to non-profit organisation Belong Aotearoa. This is a specialist settlement support agency, providing help and advice for new migrants, international students, and refugees.
Night of Memories was managed and organised under the initiative of the ICC Executives - President Coco Ma (Kupe House) and Vice-President Wei Tian Teo (Rutherford), along with members of the executive team Shafquat Tabeeb (Mansfield), Allan Han (Batten), and Lily Kim (Mansfield). The Intercultural Committee hope to see this tradition continue in future years.
A special thanks to Mrs Hoshino for her guidance and support with the logistics of all ICC events this year.
