Impressive medal haul at the New Zealand National Junior Fencing Championships

A group of Macleans College fencers achieved some impressive results at the New Zealand National Junior (U20) Championships held at the Waitakere Netball Centre from 2 - 3 March.
Year 13 student Gisele Lau (Te Kanawa House) was part of the Auckland Representative Women’s Sabre team who earned a gold medal. Competing in the Individual Women’s Sabre event, Gisele placed third equal to win a bronze medal.
Year 11 student Larry Lin (Batten) was part of the Auckland Representative Men’s Foil team, who also earned a gold medal. Larry also fenced in the Individual Men’s Foil event, and was placed joint third; a remarkable achievement for a competitor who is under 15 years old.
