New Zealand Biology Olympiad Team

Yang Fan Yun (Snell) and Joyce Chan (Kupe) were recently selected as part of the team to represent New Zealand for Biology Olympiad this year, as two of the top five biology students in the country.
To be selected, they attended a residential camp at the University of Auckland and Massey University in the April holidays, which concluded with two three-hour long exams in practical and theory skills. Both obtained a Gold Medal in the New Zealand Biology Olympiad.
This year, the International Biology Olympiad will be held in Iran. Unfortunately, due to political sanctions, New Zealand will be unable to compete in the Olympiad this year. Instead, the New Zealand team will be conducting biological research in the Great Rift Valley in Tanzania and Malawi for two weeks in July, as part of Operation Wallacea.
This will be an incredibly valuable experience.
