New Zealand author Kate De Goldi visits Macleans College

Posted on August 10, 2022

On Monday 8 August one of New Zealand’s finest authors, Kate De Goldi, joined 14 writers from across the school in a workshop on creative writing.

Among the group were poets, short story writers and even some that are working on full-length novels.

Kate is the author of several best-selling New Zealand novels such as The 10pm Question and her latest, Eddy Eddy has received excellent reviews across the board.

Over the course of two hours, Kate used the time to help the students explore the world around them and be creative in the way they approached writing using poetry and prose in new and varied ways. She inspired many of the students to look at the world and their own lives through the eyes of a writer, seeing things in slightly more abstract or metaphorical ways.

All the students thoroughly enjoyed their time working with such a talented and obliging writer and thanks to the library and Mr Reed for organising the event.

Macleans College were able to invite Kate De Goldi through READ NZ’s Writers in Schools programmes.
