New Perspectives gained at Academy Conference 2019
Posted on May 22, 2019
On Wednesday 15 May, 26 Extension Studies students travelled to Saint Cuthbert’s College for the 2019 Academy Conference.
The day consisted of engaging lectures across a range of topics. Some favourites included ‘The Politics of Tolerance and Freedom’ and ‘The Psychology of Outstanding Achievement’. These lectures in particular challenged the students’ preconceived ideas and exposed them to new perspectives and ways of thinking.
The students relished the opportunity to converse with the presenters: Julie Arliss, Jeffrey Hodges, and Dr Chris O’Neil. The day ended with a debate on cell phone use in school, in which Danielle Tweedale (Rutherford House) presented an articulate argument.
