Michael Anderson was appointed as the Director of Sport at the start of Term 4 2017.

The first event he oversaw was the mixed Touch Rugby tournament played against 20 top school teams. The team management and coaching team was led by Mr Sarah and Mrs Marnewick. During the three days of competition the young team secured a number of wins culminating in victory in the bowl final.

Two key appointments have been made which will build on the school’s strong sporting programme.

The first is Grant Robertson who will be the First XI Football Coach in 2018. He is a very experienced player and coach. More recently he has coached the junior level 16th and 17th Grade Metro, Northern Regional Football League level and in the New Zealand National League known currently as the ISPS Handa Football Championship.

The second appointment is Deanna Ritchie who will be supporting the girls hockey programme at Macleans College in 2018. She made her debut for the Black Sticks in 2016 against Malaysia and is currently part of the wider Black Sticks training squad. Her contribution to coaching will be invaluable.
