New artwork unveiled

Recently a former Macleans College student Graedon Parker (Mansfield House 2004 – 2008) was invited to the Macleans College staffroom to unveil a painting he had made for the school.
Graedon was the inaugural winner of the Dangerous Boys' Art Competition in 2008 and he was commissioned to do the painting for the staff by Mrs Williams the Head of the Art faculty.
The name of the work is "Ngā Kaitiaki o Te Rangi" - Gardeners of the Skies.
Graedon's artist statement reads: This piece is a tribute to the ancient beings who occupied the multidimensional space that Macleans College resides on long before European settlement. Secondly bearing tribute to ngā Kaiako (the teachers) of Macleans College. Like the Kererū carry berries and seeds vast distances to plant and cultivate te Ngāhere (the forests), the teachers bear the baskets of knowledge to cultivate limitless possibility in the minds of ngā Tauira (the students).
