National titles won at New Zealand Gymnastics Championships

Thirteen Macleans College students competed in the 2021 New Zealand Gymnastics Championships held at The Trusts Arena Waitakere from 20 – 24 July.

This is the biggest GymSports event in New Zealand with nearly a thousand competitors taking part in the five different sporting codes. Each athlete secured selection to represent their province during the last few months meeting qualifying scores.

Macleans College students won a total of 10 individual medals. Special mention to Olivia Lin (Batten House) and Regina Sutjahjo (Snell), who were crowned National Champions in Level 10 Rhythmic Gymnastics and 15-16 year old Women’s Tumbling respectively.

Olivia also won national apparatus titles for Ribbon, Hoop and Ball. Elaine Zhai (Snell) won the national Balance Beam title in Step 10 Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.
