Multiple prizes achieved at Japanese Speech Festival

On Saturday 17 August, ten students took part in the annual Auckland Regional Secondary School Japanese Speech Festival held at the AUT city campus.
This is the first time the Northland, Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions joined in the competition. The participants showcased their Japanese language skills in a challenging but good-spirited competition.
The Year 12 and Year 13 categories were combined for the first time, which resulted in a highly competitive event.
Kotaro Ishii (12BECU) won 1st Prize in Open category. Kitty Cheng (12LALB) won 2nd Prize, David Siu (13PRVK) the National Advisor’s Prize, Sophia Liu (11GGHK) won 1st Prize in the Year 11 Category and Chris Cai (11CLEH) was Highly Commended.
Salome Chen (12FISU), Will Zhang (12BAIM), William Hu (13PRIM), Crystal Li (11LEMU) and Yoshino Igarashi (13PRIM) also delivered commendable speeches, which impressed the audience on the day.
Sophia Liu entertained the audience with a Japanese song.
All the participants are to be congratulated on their excellent performances and public speaking skills.
