MP for Pakuranga attends Social Studies class at Macleans College
Posted on June 21, 2023
Simeon Brown, local MP for Pakuranga, visited Macleans College to assist Year 13 Social Studies students with questions they had in regards to their social actions as part of an assignment.
He answered various questions to the best of his ability and was as informative as possible. He took his time to listen to each student and provide a useful reply.
The session helped the students to understand policies and procedures of the New Zealand Parliament, and to gain a point of view on the issues which political parties are campaigning for. With the chance to ask as many questions as needed, the students took the opportunity to enquire about topics and issues which they are passionate about and required more detail on. These issues included the topics of smoking in New Zealand, speed limit changes around Auckland and government spending schemes.
Mr Brown advised the students about what further actions could be taken to implement a change and make a greater impact.
Overall the session was very informative and helpful and the students were very grateful to Mr Brown for dedicating his afternoon to visiting the school.
