More than 60 flags flown at Macleans College’s Flag Pageant
Posted on August 18, 2022
Earlier this month the Inter Cultural Committee (ICC) Executives coordinated the successful return of the Flag Pageant.
Both students and teachers represented their cultural identity, and the school’s multiculturalism, in the form of a flag parade during the school assembly. This was realised in a fashion similar to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
As there are more than 60 nationalities amongst students, through this event, the wide range of ethnicities at Macleans College was celebrated.
At the conclusion of the pageant, the Macleans College flag was flown and students and staff alike stood up to sing the national anthem, uniting the differing backgrounds under our school.
The inaugural Flag Pageant was managed and organised under the initiative of Principal Mr Hargreaves, and the ICC Executives - President Coco Ma (Kupe House) and Vice-President Wei Tian Teo (Rutherford), along with members of the executive team Shafquat Tabeeb (Mansfield), Allan Han (Batten), and Lily Kim (Mansfield). We hope to see this tradition continue in future years.
A special thanks to Ms Tuialii for her guidance and support with the logistics of the Flag Pageant.
