The second annual Model East Asian Relations Conference, also known as MEARC was recently hosted at Macleans College.
MEARC is an entirely student-led event that invites secondary school students to attend a day of debate, discussion and dialogues within the region of East Asia.
Topics at this year’s MEARC included youth development, education and a lighthearted discussion regarding the formation of a supranational political union between member states.
The coordination of the event was run by Aaron Huang (Rutherford House) and Nathan Rao (Rutherford) alongside the student volunteers, Kelly Ma (Upham), Yunmin Lee (Rutherford), Behrad Etemadipour (Batten) and Michael Lu (Mansfield) who ensured a smooth operation of the event.
In just one day, participants were able to successfully develop their skills in debating, research, as well as negotiations to achieve the respective goals of their nations and benefit East Asia as a whole.
The second annual MEARC turned out to be a successful event, with attendees leaving with positive experiences.
