Media studies students experience live TV studio

Last Thursday, Year 13 Macleans College media studies students were delighted to be the live studio audience for TV3’s The Project.

Host Jesse Mulligan commented on air that the school formed the largest audience they have ever had on the show.

It was a sensational insight into the behind the scenes workings of live TV, made all the more exciting by seeing the crew’s live response to a playback issue and a microphone not working.

Lise Becker (Hillary House) had the opportunity to do the audience introduction of upcoming segments during an ad break. After being cued in by presenter Josh Thomas, Lise nailed the script reading from the auto-cue to rapturous applause from her peers and the celebrity hosts.

An enlightening Q&A with the show’s executive producer after the live taping helped the students to understand the process of making the show and the media industry.
