Media Studies and Performing Arts Collaborate
Posted on October 15, 2020
Macleans College Media Studies students had the privilege of working alongside New Zealand filmmaker and post-production specialist, Alastair Tye-Samson to plan, shoot and edit the Macleans Cabaret performance.
Mr Tye-Samson began his career editing at Weta Digital in Wellington on Peter Jackson’s first Lord of The Rings film. He now has his own successful post-production business, ‘The Finishing Suite’, in Auckland where he does post-production on television and film from New Zealand and overseas. The professional instruction and the hands-on learning that the students received from Mr Tye-Samson has been exciting and invaluable.
This was the first collaboration between the growing Macleans College Media Studies department and the school’s highly successful Performing Arts Faculty. We look forward to other successful cross-curricular projects in the future.
The Cabaret film can be viewed on the school’s YouTube channel.
