Medals at Oceania Fencing U20 Championships

Michael Purcell 12MLK recently took part in the 2016 Oceania U20 Fencing Championships held over the holidays in Lower Hutt.

The competition included competitors from Australia, New Caledonia, Tahiti and Samoa as well as the hosts, New Zealand.

Michael competed in both the foil and sabre disciplines and placed 3rd in the sabre individuals. He was subsequently selected for the New Zealand A sabre team that went on and placed 2nd in the teams event, narrowly losing to Australia by 2 points in the finals.
