Macleans Students Visit the Pop Up Globe
Posted on March 11, 2016
On Monday 29 February three Year 9 extension classes and the Level 1 NCEA Drama students were given an exciting opportunity to visit the Pop Up Globe in Auckland’s CBD.
The students saw a performance of one of William Shakespeare’s most iconic plays – Romeo and Juliet. This unique opportunity was relished by everyone. For many, it was their first time seeing live theatre performed and it was very exciting for them.
The Pop Up Globe is a full scale, temporary working replica of Shakespeare’s second Globe Theatre that opened in London in 1614. Its appearance in Auckland marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare in 1616, one of the world’s greatest playwrights.
