Macleans Students Raise Funds for Te Puea Marae

On 15 June four Year 13 Social Studies students, Ava Randell (Te Kanawa House), Shane Cannon (Batten), Cameron Mitchell (Te Kanawa) and Iszac Kereone (Snell) initiated a drive for donations for Te Puea Marae.
The Mangere based marae has been providing emergency accommodation for up to 30 families at a time who have lost their homes. Volunteer social workers are helping to place them in new homes and provide them with basic supplies.
Thanks to the generosity of students from every house a visit was made to the marae the following week to present the donated materials which included food, clothing, bedding and school supplies.
The Te Puea Marae has expressed its great appreciation of the support provided by Macleans College.
