Macleans Student Helps to Address Auckland’s Waste Concerns

Posted on August 10, 2016

Joshua Zhu from Rutherford House participated in a youth led opportunity during the July holidays at Te Oro (Glen Innes Music and Arts Centre).

The programme “CompostIT” was initiated to build awareness of the growing issues around Auckland’s waste concerns.

It aimed to inspire and educate young people to think innovatively about waste and to build creative solutions to prepare towards Auckland’s Unitary Plan for a Zero Waste Auckland by 2040.

Joshua learnt to build instruments from waste, wrote a song about waste, and prepared a music composition and a video clip. The leadership skills he displayed towards the younger students were exceptional.
