Macleans College has the pleasure to introduce Mr David Edmondson as our new Director of Football.
Mr Edmondson will be coaching and overseeing both boys and girls football at Macleans College. He is also an experienced Physical Education teacher who will be teaching both junior and senior Physical Education classes.
Mr Edmondson is returning to New Zealand from Europe in March (after managed isolation) and will be joining our staff for the build up to the winter sports season.
Macleans College is very excited to have Mr Edmondson join us, and to drive our most popular sporting code.
Below are some of Mr Edmondson’s football credentials and a message from him before he arrives.
- AFC Pro Licence, UEFA A Licence
- NZ Secondary Schools National Finalist x 2 (Coach of Hamilton Boys’ High School 1st XI)
- UEFA Women’s Champions League Quarter Finalist
- Continental Cup Semi-Finalist
- Westfield W League Winner
- FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup
- NZFC (Player and Coach)
- NRFL (Player and Coach)
"I have been lucky enough to travel the world through football and to coach in some huge games, from the U17 World Cup with the New Zealand U17 women to the UEFA Women's Champions league, winning against Barcelona with Bristol. But it is the love of football that excites me and drives me and it is that love of the game that I want to bring to Macleans. Football has a place for everyone, from the super talented who want to go as far in the game as they can, to those who just want to play socially with their friends and those opportunities are what I want to offer to the football community at Macleans. I look forward to getting to meeting you all when I arrive back in New Zealand and let me assure you that I am just as excited about coaching you as I was about beating Barcelona 1-0 in the mini-estadi."
We look forward to Mr Edmondson joining us in March this year.
