A near capacity audience were treated to a varied programme of vocal music on Friday 8 June, delivered by over 200 students in the beautifully refurbished Colin Prentice Auditorium.

From Mozart to Disney, the concert featured the College’s vocal groups, quartets and soloists as they make their final preparations for the contest season ahead.

Leading the all comers girls’ choir (Da Capo) and premiere girls’ choir (Cantabile), Ms Pridham made her Macleans debut with conducting debut’s for students Jonathan Shaw (Batten House) and Hamish Regan (Rutherford) with the all comers boys’ choir Men of Macleans.

Two Barbershop quartets impressed with their well-rehearsed close harmonies - the Gold Quartet featuring Diego Santos (Rutherford), Daniel Woo (Hillary), Avaneesh Belwalkar (Rutherford) and Jonathan Shaw and Sinopia featuring Hayatt Al Joborry (Mansfield), Jackie Liu (Snell), Shuyi Wang (Snell) and Danielle Tweedale (Rutherford).

Hayatt Al Joborry also shone in the soloist spotlight with a short set of items before joining the larger premiere groups Macappella and Macleans College Chorale.

Beautiful control and harmonic blend was a real feature of these groups together with an infectious energy.
