Macleans College teacher achieves literary success

Macleans College English teacher Mr Christopher Reed, has recently placed second in the NZ Writers College 2020 Annual Short Story Competition.

In its eleventh year, this competition is held for emerging writers in New Zealand.  The theme for 2020 was “What we took for granted”.  Placing second, Christopher won a monetary prize and publication in an anthology of winning stories.  He also received editorial comments on his submitted story.

Christopher’s short story is titled “let it be. waiho”.  Judges’ comments included “An elegant and powerful story of self-discovery”, “The way the story is told (2nd person), the dialogue and the self-deprecating tone all gave this story an original feel”.
