Macleans College students selected for Auckland Rugby representative teams
Posted on September 23, 2021
A successful season for the Macleans College 1st XV has seen a number of players rewarded with selection in representative teams.
The inside back combination of Year 12 students, Declan Murphy (Mansfield House) and Divan Lourens (Mansfield) have been selected in the Blues Under 18 squad. It is an outstanding achievement as this squad is selected from all the 1st XV’s across the greater Auckland region. This is even more impressive considering that both players are in Year 12 and are eligible for selection again in 2022. Declan and Divan will attend the Blues training camp in October and November.
Further to this, Kade Bramwell (Kupe) and Jay Punimata (Snell) were named in the Auckland U18 Divisional team and Reinhard Gerber (Hillary) along with the 1st XV captain Thom Stranaghan (Kupe) were selected for the Auckland U18 Barbarians.
Unfortunately with Auckland being in lockdown none of the teams will be able to play fixtures but this does not take away from the achievement of being selected for such a high level of representative rugby.
