Macleans College students of Spanish build skills at immersion camp

Eleven Macleans College Spanish students joined 100 other students from around the North Island, for a Spanish Immersion Camp, in Rotorua recently.

Students participated in a number of language and cultural activities to build their language skills and knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world. These included quizzes, games, conversational activities, a lip-sync competition, a Spanish movie, salsa dancing and tapas making. A highlight on the last night was visiting the Redwoods forest and undertaking the tree walk, walking along swing bridges suspended from the trees. The lighting was amazing and it was a truly magical experience.

Spanish was the modus-operandi throughout camp and students came away with greater confidence in their listening and speaking skills, finding that they were communicating more effortlessly and instinctively in Spanish. This is something to be celebrated and represents genuine progress in the journey towards fluency in Spanish.

Students had a lot of fun at camp and look forward to building on the progress they made as they continue with their Spanish studies.
