Macleans College students build skills at Great Forest Rogaine
Posted on August 10, 2023
Over the weekend three Macleans College Adventure Race teams competed in the Great Forest Rogaine in the Whakarewarewa Forest, Rotorua.
They competed in the three-hour foot rogaine running over 16 kilometres of hilly, muddy and rough terrain. Using the event to continue to hone their navigation skills, the three teams pushed themselves through the Redwoods.
The team of Lily West (Upham House), Samuel Muggleston (Rutherford) and Jazmyn Crowther (Rutherford) placed fourth in the open youth category, narrowly missing out on third due to being thirty-five seconds late. It was a very impressive result as the trio ran a great route, linking points with precision and effectiveness. All being Year 12 this is a great skill builder for next year’s races.
