Last week the Year 13 Police Studies class attended a Police Careers Fair held at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau.
Superintendent Jill Rogers opened the event, which was attended by well over 20 schools involved in the Police Pathway Programme.
In attendance were 20 Police workgroups, including the Maritime Unit, Forensic Imaging, Delta (dog handlers), Specialist Search Groups (SSG), front-line officers, Protection Services and Criminal Investigation Branch Training.
The Police Careers Fair was divided into four quadrants so students could interact with each workgroup. A range of activities, including fitness tests and experiencing the effects of driving while distracted (provided by Students against Dangerous Driving) were on offer.
The highlight of the day for the students was the Eagle helicopter display.
