Macleans College student wins Holocaust Essay Competition

She visited Parliament in Wellington on January 27th, Holocaust Remembrance Day where she read her winning essay to an invited audience.

Paul Seideman is a Czech Jew who survived Auschwitz-Birkenau, the main Nazi German concentration and extermination camp during World War Two and came to New Zealand after the war.

The essay competition in his name was about the causes and consequences of the Holocaust identified through the stories of New Zealand survivors. It is administered by the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand.

Aisha also attended a Holocaust Remembrance ceremony at Makara Cemetery, located near Wellington. Her success is impressive and a reminder that the events of World War Two should not be forgotten.
