Macleans College staff enjoy Diwali celebrations

Macleans College staff were invited to join the Diwali celebrations recently with a number of activities organised.

To start the celebrations Macleans College Principal Mr Hargreaves and members of the Senior Management Team undertook a lamp lighting ceremony at staff briefing. Mr Hargreaves wished staff and students well for the festive season.

Staff dressed up in traditional outfits to commemorate the celebration. A Rangoli decoration at the entrance of the staffroom and decorations added a festive flair. During morning tea, staff members could receive henna designs on their hands and enjoyed sweet and savoury treats. Activities and videos were also presented to explain the significance of Diwali.

Diwali also known as the Festival of Lights is a Hindu religious festival and one of the most auspicious festivals within Hinduism. Diwali signifies the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the renewal of life.
