Macleans College places First at Eastern Zones School Speech Competition
Posted on November 01, 2018
In the first week of Term Four the Eastern Zone Schools Speech competition finals were held at Pakuranga College.
The night saw the culmination of a year’s worth of speaking opportunities across Years 9 to 11 and the calibre of these few finalists was extraordinary.
Macleans College was proudly represented by three extremely professional speakers – Stephanie Chong Year 9 of Upham House, Chloe Wright Year 10 of Te Kanawa House and Prisha Desai Year 11 of Batten House.
Stephanie held her own against the high bar set by her peers, with polished and engaging delivery as she argued for the superiority of Generation Z. Her wit and confidence gained her 3rd place.
Chloe presented a superbly well-crafted piece arguing the ways in which other people can affect our mental health, combining eloquence with sincerity.
Prisha’s speech took the form of a letter from her future self. Her advice – to approach life with integrity and humility, saw Prisha take home the 1st place trophy for Year 11.
Macleans College continues to produce speakers who speak with passion and maturity and the three finalists for 2018 should be proud of their achievements.
