Macleans College netball teams welcome Somerville House

Posted on June 27, 2023

Last week the Macleans College Premier and 10A netball teams hosted Somerville House, who are currently touring from Queensland.

Somerville House are visiting New Zealand during their school holidays, undertaking workshops with members of the Silver Ferns and playing the Waitākere Representative team as well as other Auckland schools.

The Macleans College Premier team won 30-20 and the 10A team narrowly lost after holding the lead for the first quarter of their game.

These games saw a great turn out of whānau and supporters. The Macleans College girls added a special feel to the evening by performing the haka. After the matches everyone gathered together to share kai in the staffroom. Somerville House were presented with some Macleans College merchandise and gifts.

After a tour of Macleans College, Somerville House commented on the beautifully kept grounds and how impressed they were with the standard of the school. They expressed interest in hosting Macleans College in their boarding facilities if teams were to ever tour Australia.

A very special thank you to Mrs Megan Rawlings who helped out immensley in organising behind the scenes, and to Ms Rita Chan See who worked tirelessly in the staffroom to provide such a feast.

Macleans College hope to visit Somerville House one day, in what would be a long lasting partnership between the two schools.
