The Play It Strange Peace Songwriting Competition takes place annually and aims to highlight songs about peace - from inner to world peace.
Over three hundred students entered this competition in 2023, and forty-five were chosen as finalists. Each finalist won a session in a professional recording studio.
Year 13 Macleans College music student Guntaas Oberoi (Upham House) was selected as one of these finalists and was fortunate enough to record her song "Rainbow Skies" at Parachute Studios with producer Jacob Brown.
Guntaa’s recording features on the Play It Strange Peace Album 2023. She is also releasing her song as an individual artist on 25 August.
Established in 2003, Play It Strange exists to provide pathways of creativity through songwriting for young New Zealanders.
