Macleans College golfer crowned Auckland U16 Boys Champion

Year 11 student Samuel Ding (Upham House) was crowned the 2023 U16 Boys Champion after playing in the Auckland Age Groups Golf Championships in December.

The Championships were held over three days at Akarana, Redwood Park and Waiuku Golf Clubs. This event provided an opportunity for junior golfers to come together and embrace the spirit of golf, teamwork and camaraderie.

Samuel carded rounds of 73, 73 and 75 to finish with a total of 221; three points clear of second place.

Last year Samuel finished first place in the U16 boys division of the Northland Junior Open at Mangawhai Golf Club. He has also previously won the Waikato Age Group Championships in the U14 Boys division. In 2022, he was a member of Macleans College golf team who won the New Zealand Boys Secondary Schools Championship for the third time.
