Macleans College Boys’ 1st XI Football Success

Macleans College Boys’ 1st XI won promotion to the Premier Division after defeating King’s College over two legs.

The first leg was played at King’s College. Following very composed play Macleans’ first goal was scored by Tafara Chawira (Upham House) assisted by an Angus Stewart (Snell) cross. Andrew Jones (Kupe) contributed to the second goal which was scored by Jaxon Davis (Rutherford). Macleans went 3-0 up when Stephen Elliott (Upham) reacted first in a goalmouth melee. King’s scored a consolation goal late in the game.

Starting the second leg 3-1 down King’s fought to equalize and both sides came very close to scoring. However, both sides eventually cancelled each other out and the match ended in a 0-0 draw meaning Macleans won 3-1 on aggregate.
