Macleans and Eastern Zone Speech Competitions
Posted on August 23, 2019
The Year 9 and 10 persuasive speech competitions were held at the end of last term, with the best speaker from every class going through to a qualifying round, which resulted in eight finalists.
The standard was incredibly high, as always, and finding a winner was challenging for the judges. The results were as follows:
Year 9:
1st - Bianca Lim (Snell House)
2nd - Abbey Bolton (Kupe)
3rd - Caelyn Pak (Te Kanawa)
Year 10
1st - Mia Simpson (Kupe)
2nd - Stephanie Chong (Upham)
3rd - Emily Ready (Mansfield)
Bianca and Mia were then joined by Year 11 student Chloe Wright (Te Kanawa) for the Eastern Zone speech contest at Pakuranga College last Tuesday night.
All three girls gave superb speeches, with Chloe finishing third and Mia winning the Year 10 grade. Both of these girls delivered powerful and moving messages about body image.
