MacFit Challenge 2022

As part of the MCert Physical Education course, students recently competed in the MacFit Challenge.

The students ran on a course around Macleans Park, completed an agility course, carried 12 kg weights up a steep hill, and rowed 500m on the erg machine before the final sprint to the end. Before the event, all students threw a medicine ball as far as they could which counted towards their final placing.

The eventual winners did not place first after the run or the throw, but demonstrated superior fitness across the range of tasks.

This year’s winners were Noah Crowhurst (Batten House) who completed the course in a time of 17:40 minutes and threw 5.4 metres and Jazmyn Crowther (Rutherford) who completed the run with challenges in 21:52 minutes and threw 4.3 metres.

A special mention also goes to Mulan Chan See (Snell) who set a new record for the girls throwing a massive 6.5 metres and Aiden Roy (Mansfield) who threw 8.5 metres, both competitors throwing a full metre further than the next competitor. In addition, a special mention goes to Connor Jamieson (Kupe) who set a new course record of 17:07 minutes.
