Leadership principles put into practice at AdventureWorks

Posted on May 19, 2021

The Year 13 Outdoor Education class travelled to Unitec to complete the AdventureWorks High Ropes Challenge Course over two days.

The purpose of the visit was for the students to start putting the leadership principles learnt in class into practice. The students had to work collaboratively together, use effective communication and positive encouragement throughout in helping their classmates conquer the challenges.

All the students completed a challenge even those with a fear of heights. The course involved several different individual and paired challenges with the trapeze leap being the ultimate in trust and nerves. The class learnt some new skills including how to belay safely, knot tying and setting up the high ropes challenges. Mr Cole and Mr Moore, at the encouragement of the students, were also involved and completed several challenges too.

This course was a great experience all round for the students and the class is looking forward to their next challenge in Mountain Biking.
