Katti Leadership Course 004

A group of Year 11 Macleans College Māori students recently had the opportunity to attend a leadership training day held at Waipapa Marae, The University of Auckland.

The course is run by Kei a Tātou te ihi (KATTI) and the programme theme was Navigation to Career Destinations.

Whakataukī/Proverb:  He moana pukepuke ekengia e te waka/ Rough seas can still be navigated.

This programme encourages Year 11 Māori secondary school students to focus on enhancing their life choices through exploring their opportunities via career planning.  Through access to key people from various organisations, the desire is for every student to feel they can make informed decisions about their education future, work to overcome any barriers or obstacles and develop an awareness of the available tools to accommodate their decision-making.

The following students attended the training day: Thom Stranaghan (Kupe House), Lily Cattermoul (Hillary), Adriana White (Rutherford), Bobbi Passau (Rutherford), Tamika Te Young (Batten), Chloe Walker (Kupe), Noah Takurua (Batten), Isaiah Lewis (Hillary), Ryan Papa (Hillary), Taylor Burnett (Kupe), Pharrel Grbic (Mansfield).
