Knights of the Castle represent Macleans College at Lower Voices Festival
Posted on May 31, 2024
On Friday 17 May, members of Macleans College’s Knights of the Castle attended the inaugural Lower Voices Festival.
The event was held at Westlake Boys High School Auditorium and included choirs from six schools: Westlake Boys’ High School, Rosmini College, Rangitoto College, Dilworth School, Takapuna Grammar School and Macleans College.
The singers had an opportunity to sing two pieces together as a massed choir of over 250 voices, and attended workshops with some of New Zealand’s best singing teachers. The festival finished with a concert where each choir had the opportunity to present a piece.
Knights of the Castle proudly represented Macleans College, confidently performing the spiritual style piece ‘Bound for Jubilee’ by Joyce Eilers. They were later treated to an impressive performance by the tenors and basses from the University of Auckland Chamber Choir.

The festival celebrated lower voices: experienced and beginner, junior and senior, bass and tenor. Macleans College looks forward to participating again in the years to come.
