Junior Piano Competition 2017

On Monday 21 August the Annual Junior Piano Competition was held in the Macleans College Music Department and adjudicated by NZ Trio’s Sarah Watkins.
Six junior students fought it out for the title with demanding works from composers such as Liszt, Beethoven and Chopin.
Separating the performances, the adjudicator cited the ability to portray emotion and personality through the music.
Winning the competition was Alphonse Jing (Mansfield House) with second and third place going to David Li (Snell) and Jie Fan Yun (Mansfield).
