Junior Get to Go Adventure Race
Posted on August 24, 2017
On Thursday 10 August eight junior students competed in the Junior Get to Go Adventure Race.
The team did incredibly well especially considering the number of teams has doubled since last year in this event. Macleans College placed fourth overall out of twenty teams narrowly missing out on third place. Unfortunately, the kayaking event was cancelled which was a strength of the team, having placed first in that event last year.
The event consisted of mountain biking, a foot rogaine and problem solving. The team consisted of Amelia Winstone (Kupe House), Gallon Zhou (Upham), John Wang (Te Kanawa), Sam Williams (Batten), Josh Marryatt (Hillary), Caitlin Harley (Upham), Maddi Hohneck (Snell) and Mia Bolton (Kupe). They did exceptionally well bearing in mind that five of the eight are in Year 9 and this is the first year that many have done these sort of events.
The team has learnt lessons from this year experience and are hopeful they can improve in next year’s competition.
