Junior ESOL Trip to the Howick Historical Village

Posted on March 29, 2018

On March 27, the junior ESOL immersion students stepped back in time with their visit to the Howick Historical Village.

Students discovered what life was like for early settlers to Howick, in the mid to late 1800s.

The ESOL students were intrigued by the items the first European settlers brought to their new country in anticipation of the unknown environment. Activities such as designing fashionable dresses from this colonial period, trolley making and playing outdoor games gave students a glimpse into life without modern technology.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the time spent by volunteers to run the activities was greatly appreciated.
