Junior ESOL Trip to Howick Historical Village

Posted on April 07, 2016

A total of 58 students from three Junior ESOL Immersion classes recently visited the Howick Historical Village.

The Village is a living history museum that provides an opportunity to learn about Auckland’s colonial period (1840-1880). The Village buildings and artefacts are well presented and preserved and provide a good insight into what life for early settlers would have been like in New Zealand.

The boys enjoyed assembling a wooden trolley and on completion racing against each other. The girls designed a dress in small groups and then had a fashion parade to display their garment. All students enjoyed the games especially attempting walking on the wooden stilts, spinning the steel hoops, walking on the ‘slalom boards’ and wooden blocks.

A good day was enjoyed by all.
