Junior ESOL Students Visit Crystal Mountain
Posted on June 28, 2019
Recently sixty-three junior ESOL Macleans College students visited Crystal Mountain in Swanson, West Auckland.
Crystal Mountain has a large selection of rare crystals and minerals from around the world. Some pieces weigh 2000kg and are 2 metres in height, all of which are an amazing sight.
The students listened to a presentation about the precious collection. They worked together looking for various crystals such as the large amethyst and green crystals and read about where they came from.
Also in the collection were many fossils which included a crab, a tortoise and shark teeth imbedded in the fossils. Additionally there was a large meteorite dated to 1836. The students were given a bag of sand each and panned for their own crystals in the sluice. There was much excitement when they were allowed to keep the crystals they had found.
The students also fed the farm animals and rode on the farm train.
