A group of six short-term international students from Hanoi, Vietnam spent a day exploring the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) recently.
The group started in the Aviation Hall where they took a guided tour by an experienced host. The students were interested to learn about the Solent Flying Boat, one of only two left in the world, and they enjoyed taking turns to sit in the cockpit of the former Police 1 helicopter.
The students then headed to MOTAT on the historic tram, where the conductor shared information on how the tram operates. Highlights inside MOTAT included the Pumphouse and the tram workshop. The students particularly enjoyed learning about the development of the telecommunications technology. They found dialling a rotary phone fascinating, as they have not seen one before.
Overall, it was a fun and interactive day, which provided an educational experience for all.
