International Brain Bee Competition
Posted on July 07, 2021
Earlier this year, a group of Year 11 students signed up to study information on the brain and take an online test.
One hundred and fifty students from across the North Island were selected from the round one test to attend the University of Auckland School of Medicine as part of the International Brain Bee Competition on Thursday 1 July.
Macleans College sent a group of six Year 11 students and two Year 12 students; Nancy Chen (Rutherford House) finished first equal and Jessica Hong (Rutherford) sixth equal in the 2020 competition and are mentoring the Year 11 group.
The students heard from speakers who are working in the Centre for Brain Research on topics such as repetitive head injuries in sport, competed in quizzes and toured parts of the Medical School. It was an interesting and informative experience.
The round two test will be held early in Term 3.
